Marital Blissaster ~ Brooklyn Taylor ~ Quick Review

Today's review is for a book I won in giveaway. Let me say, it's a great way to meet and try new author's. Have you read any of Brooklyn Taylor's work? If so, let me know....

Callie Hartley has everything she has ever asked for. She married the one man she knew she couldn’t live without after losing him once and vowing to never let him go again. Her life is exactly what she had hoped for. Madison Reid pretended she had everything but inside she was a lost soul. She had an unhappy marriage and spent her days resenting her life. She was lonely and underappreciated. She strived for a life of happiness and to make her forget what she passed up years ago, her dreams. One woman will fight for her marriage that starts to crumble before her eyes while the other throws it away carelessly. A friendship between them that they thought would last a life time is changed forever by decisions that can’t be reversed. Opportunities enter their lives and they have to determine if the risks are worth the rewards. Can doubt or guilt eat a person alive? How far would you go to save your marriage? If you had never truly been loved would you risk it all when you thought you could?

Wow! Part of me wants to stop there, because that's how I feel right now having just finished this book, but I know that's not really a review... Let me start by saying that the synopsis of this book doesn't do it justice at all. Yes, the book is about 2 young women and their marriages, but that just scratches the surface. Marital Blissaster follows Madison and Callie going back and forth between their points of view. We also go from present day to their high school/college experience to get the back story for where they are now. The author does an excellent job of balancing Madison's story with Callie's so that we have an opportunity to get to know them both and appreciate the journeys that they are going on. I also found myself relating to both women. I could easily put myself in both of their shoes to some extent. I don't know if it's age or something else, but as I read, I kept asking myself "would I do that?" and "how would I handle that situation?" I loved the way the situations were resolved; both women learned important lessons about love and family and there was even a pretty awesome surprise twist. I won this ebook during another author's facebook party and I'm so glad I did. Ms. Taylor will definitely be an author whose work I look into more.
